The short version: RM1 stores your financial data on your own device. We don't run servers that collect it, we don't sell it, and we don't share it with anyone. If you turn on iCloud backup, your data goes to your own Apple account — not to us. That's it.
1. Who we are
RM1 ("the app", "we", "us") is a personal finance tracking app published by SpearCompute Sdn. Bhd., a company registered in Malaysia. This policy explains how RM1 handles your information, in line with Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (PDPA) and Apple's App Store requirements.
2. What data RM1 handles
RM1 lets you record and view your own financial information, including:
- Bills you add (name, amount, due date, category, paid status)
- Income you add (source, amount, date)
- Day-to-day spending you add (name, amount, date, category)
This information is entered by you, for your own use. RM1 does not ask for your name, email, phone number, bank details, or any account credentials to function.
3. Where your data is stored
On your device (default). By default, everything you enter is stored locally on your iPhone using the device's own secure storage. It does not leave your device, and we never receive a copy.
iCloud backup (optional, off by default). If you choose to turn on iCloud backup in Settings, RM1 saves a copy of your data to your own Apple iCloud account so it can be restored on a new device or synced across your devices. This uses Apple's iCloud, governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. We do not have access to your iCloud data, and it is never sent to our servers.
4. What we collect about you
Nothing. RM1 does not operate analytics, advertising, tracking, or data-collection services. We do not collect your financial data, usage data, location, contacts, or device identifiers. We have no servers that store your personal information.
5. Payments and subscriptions
RM1 offers an optional paid tier ("RM1 Paid"). All payments are processed by Apple through the App Store using your existing Apple ID. RM1 never sees or stores your payment card details, and we do not receive your financial payment information — Apple handles billing entirely. Purchases are subject to Apple's terms.
6. Financial suggestions are not advice
RM1 may show simple suggestions (for example, flagging overlapping subscriptions or a high rent-to-income ratio). These are generated automatically from the numbers you enter, on your device, for informational purposes only. They are not financial, investment, or professional advice, and RM1 is not a licensed financial adviser. Decisions about your money remain your own.
7. Your rights under the PDPA
Because your data stays on your device (or in your own iCloud), you are in direct control of it at all times. You can:
- Access and edit any entry directly in the app.
- Delete individual entries at any time.
- Delete everything using "Delete account & all data" in Settings, which permanently removes all your data from the device and from iCloud backup.
- Export your data to an Excel file from the Yearly screen.
Since we do not hold your personal data on any server, there is nothing for us to retrieve, correct, or delete on your behalf — you have full control within the app itself.
8. Children
RM1 is intended for general audiences managing their personal finances and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
9. Data security
Your data is protected by your device's built-in security. RM1 also offers an optional app lock (PIN or Face ID) so your financial information stays private even if someone else has your phone.
10. Changes to this policy
If we update this policy, we'll revise the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, note the change in the app. Continued use of RM1 after an update means you accept the revised policy.
